So today is day one of my 100 day gong. Not sure what I’m talking about? Check out this blog.
Urgh I had a rubbish night’s sleep and I write this is the early hours. Went to bed at 10ish and was woken up by my husband coming to bed at 2am. He decides to read for 2 minutes, falls alseep snoring and then I’m wide awake grrrrrrrr. Read for an hour, tried in vain to sleep and admitted defeat at 3.45am and got up and did some work.
Waking in the night is a big problem for women going through the menopause transition. Insomonia and night sweat = rubbish sleep. Lack of sleep can contribute to menopausal symptoms and general grumpiness lol. I’m going to write a new blog post with ways to help you get a good nights sleep.
Progesterone is natures valium, it is very calming, so lower levels can interupt sleep patterns. I forgot to take my miconised oral progesterone last night AND I put my estrogen gel and testosterone gel on last night instead of in the morning which is why my sleep quality was RUBBISH!! duh!!
Check out this blog to read about my new bioidentical hormones I’m on.
Anyways…….back to my Gong……..
Here are my new habits that I want to form over the next 100 days. As you can see I haven’t pushed myself too hard as it would be easy to over commit. When these new practices become habits then I can increase the times.
- 10 Minute Daily walk outside in nature
- 10 Minute meditation/breathing/qi gong practice
- 6 Sun Salutations and gratitude
- Daily Inspirational Read
- Creative Writing – blog/journal/book etc
So the idea is that I commit to completing these new habits every single day for 100 days, no exceptions! If i miss a day then I start my 100 days again.
The old competitive, perfectionist me would have approached this ‘challenge’ very differently. It would have been very black and white, if i missed a day I would have probably beaten myself up and given up using 100’s of excuses.
I see this gong as a way of giving myself and my wellbeing priority. Its going to be a journey of self-discovery, self-love and self-esteem. By putting my own needs first the people I love around me will benefit. If I’m feeling calmer, happier, confident and full of love then that can only be a good thing for me, my work and my friends and family.
I have got the kids involved with their own gongs and we’re working on my husband so it can be a Team Lee effort 🙂
I’m using a nifty new app called Habbits to track my new habits.
Are you going to set-up you own Gong? Remember you can have as many or as little items as you like.
Happy Gong0-ing
