I woke up feeling tired and flat. I was knackered, since I hit 40 my sleeping pattern has gone to hell. My husband wanted sex last night but I just couldn’t be bothered, it’s like my sex drive disappeared over night. Hubby has got the hump and gone to work in a mood.
I threw back the covers and dragged myself out of bed and headed for the shower. In the bathroom I took off my clothes while avoiding the mirror. I grabbed the scales, crossed my fingers and hopped on hoping that I may have lost a few pounds as I’ve tried every diet to lose that muffin top. It’s so hard to lose now that I’m older. I gingerly step on, hold my breath and look at the numbers with one eye. Sigh!! No change, I felt like a failure and wonder why I she bothered any more.

In the shower the conversation starts in my head, “you’re useless, you can’t even lose weight, you’re old, fat and ugly, why did you react that way, just give up, what the hell is wrong with me….”
I look in my wardrobe and wish I could wear that great dress I bought myself last year. It’s not to be so I grab on leggings and a lose top. I feel despondent and down. I get the kids ready for school, rushing around making lunches, packing bags, finding homework and finding the slip that needs to be handed into school today!! I feel guilty for shouting at the kids, why is she so moody these days??
I run out of the door, running late as usual with no time for breakfast. On the ‘hoof’ I grab a coffee as I just don’t feel human without caffeine theses day. I work hard until 11am when she realised she is really hungry. The easiest thing to do is grab a few biscuits with my coffee to keep mr going until lunchtime.

“Over the last couple of years I’d noticed that my ‘pmt’ was hanging around a bit longer than a couple of days before and at the start of my periods.
