I just watched a TED talk called Life’s third Act in which Jane Fonda talks about getting older and living in our third act.
I really enjoyed the talk and I really loved the below quote.
“Everything you have in life can be taken from you except one thing: your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation. This is what determines the quality of the life you live. Not whether we’ve been rich or poor, famous or unknown, healthy or suffering. What determines our quality of life is how we relate to these realities.” ~ Viktor Frankl
Life is about attitude and how we respond to people, places and things.
I spent much of my life trying to control my external world; how I looked, other peoples behaviour, situations that weren’t going my way etc.
It was frustrating, tiring and like fighting a losing battle.
Once I started to focus on changing my internal world; my thoughts, reactions, feelings, I started to feel and act differently.
Feeling stressed or fat or old is a choice.
It’s a reaction that we can control.
I find many women struggle with the fear of getting older, menopause, their body shape changing, feeling unsexy, feeling unattractive.
It doesnt have to be that way, we have a choice on how we feel.
That’s why coaching is great, it teaches you to look at ‘life’ with a whole new attitude.
How do you want to live as you head towards Life’s Third Act?
