I’ve just come back from a dump run. Nothing like throwing away all your rubbish.
Out with the old and in with the new 🙂
Do you ever feel like you could dump all the negativity in your life?
Do ever feel a little overwhelmed ?
(I’m REALLY GOOD at taking on way too much and feeling overwhelmed. Anyone who knows me will be nodding their heads with a wry smile on their face. shhhhhhhh!!)
You know that feeling when you just want to throw your hands in the air I say “I can’t cope”?
You just want to duvet dive for the day and ‘log out’ of life?
Yeah me too, and probably the majority of us who live in this crazy, fast paced world .
What I find when working with clients is that they have a lack of clarity. It’s not their fault!
They get told by many different mediums (magazines, friends, family, social media etc) what they should want
They get bombarded, what seems like, every waking moment!!
Information overload right?
….Try this new sparkly quick fix super dooper shake  diet
…..This food is good for you…….oh no ….now it’s bad for you
…..Cardio is great for losing weight…….nope weight training is better
….Deal with you stress
…..oh it’s your hormones
……wrinkles and cellulite? your life is over!
….unless you look like an airbrushed size 6 model you look may as well stay at home
……
Argghhhhhhhh!!! welcome to Overwhelm City…next stop Meltdown Town
One of my clients used to be always searching for the perfect diet, self development  book or group to ‘fix’ her.
Searching, searching searching……..
But she never made much progress. She didn’t stick at anything for long enough for it to start to make a difference.
Her attention would be off on the next best, sparkly thing.
I suggested a ban on books, magazines, online articles, videos, blogs, block certain people/companies on Facebook etc
I also suggested that she unsubscribe from any newsletters/emails that she doesn’t read (except mine of course ;-))
I’ve done similar myself with business information. I started listening to too many ‘gurus’ and was hearing to much conflicting advice and I was stuck like a rabbit in headlights!!
BTW I don’t read any popular magazines as I find the whole ‘how Z list celebrity lost 10 stone in 1 week’ blah blah depressing.
I didn’t know who’s information to use , where to start, so I didn’t bother starting at all
Sound familiar?
So for the next month I am only focusing on one persons message and advice. I’m going to implement it and ignore the noise from elsewhere.
Why don’t you try the same thing? Why pick one person/company/system for 21 days, really focus on it and ignore the rest?
You can apply this to any area of you life whether it’s health, fitness, relationships, parenting, cooking, sport..
It’s like going to the dump, you’re just dumping the noise and the feeling of overwhelm that come with it.
Imagine how good you will feel when you have consistently given all of your attention to one thing?
Go on give it a go…..honestly it feels BRILLIANT.
